Keynote Speaker at World Sustainability Symposium
On April 5, 2017, I welcomed over 100+ experts from around the world as the keynote speaker for the ‘World Symposium on Sustainability Science and Research: Implementing the 2030 United Nations Agenda for Sustainable Development’ conference held in Manchester, England; presenting on the topic of sustainable and affordable development from my published paper titled, ‘In Pursuit of Sustainability: Community and Development and Building Science’. My opening presentation was followed by case studies illustrating how sustainability science and research can help achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals - contains 17 Sustainable Development Goals and 169 targets.
On August 5, 2017, I presented again to Maryland’s Department of Housing and Community Development Department staff, and focused on the importance of Maryland’s State Housing Finance Agency role in producing affordable housing, improving energy efficiency, and supporting small businesses; and how it directly and indirectly impact the realization of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. I concluded the presentation by highlighting how private, public and nonprofit partnerships are important in realizing this global vision.
